Combining the dark marital dysfunction of “Gone Girl” with the psychological mysteries of “Memento,” the new trailer for writer-director Rowan Joffe’s “Before I Go To Sleep” pretty much guarantees nothing will be as it seems in this twisted story of a distressed amnesiac who must solve her own crime.
Adapted from the 2011 bestselling novel of the same name by S.J. Watson, “Sleep” stars Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman as Christine Lucas, a housewife suffering from short-term memory loss due to a crime that went unsolved. When Christine embarks on a dangerous path to find out the truth, her relationships with her husband (Colin Firth) and doctor (Mark Strong) take similarly twisted turns. Like any taunt psychological thriller, the trailer is full of teasing plot points, shady characters and more than enough quick cuts to increase suspense.
The mind-bending mystery is produced by Ridley Scott and opens October 31st.
