“The Affair” is a provocative TV show about the emotional and psychological effects of an extramarital affair, which the audience sees from a male and female perspective. The synopsis, via Showtime: “Alison (Ruth Wilson) is a waitress at a popular Hamptons diner who is struggling to get back to herself after a tragedy. Her husband Cole (Joshua Jackson) is also trying to recover from the incident, save his marriage and the financially strained ranch he inherited from his family. Things get complicated when Alison starts an affair with a New York City public school teacher and aspiring novelist, Noah (Dominic West) who is at his in-law’s estate for the summer. Helen (Maura Tierney) plays Noah’s wife of 17 years, mother of his children who also happens to be his childhood sweetheart.”
“House of Cards” and “In Treatment” writer Sarah Treem worked on the original script from a story created by director Hagai Levi.
