Brian De Palma & Al Pacino To Reteam On Retribution, Plot Details For Woody Allen's Next Revealed & More

"Scarface"/"Carlito’s Way" duo Brian De Palma and Al Pacino have evidently been trying to find a way to work together again. Over at HBO, the pair was working on "Happy Valley," a project about the 2011 Penn State scandal until the network halted production in September, and there has been zero word since. But the pair have lined up another gig.

Screen Daily reports that De Palma and Pacino are teaming for "Retribution." Loosely based on the 2003 Belgian thriller "The Memory Of A Killer" (trailer below), the story follows a cop and a hitman who work together to stop a child prostitution ring. No word on who penned the script, but color us interested.

Meanwhile, that trade has also revealed a logline for Woody Allen‘s upcoming movie starring Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone, and it probably won’t surprise you too much. This time around, Allen will tell the story of "an angst-ridden philosophy professor who starts an affair with a student." Geez. Has Allen now moved into the self-parody phase of his career?  Don’t forget those original rumors that suggest something much darker beyond that basic log-line.

Finally, Screen Daily also reports that Im Sang-Soo ("The Housemaid," "The Taste Of Money") will direct the comedy thriller "My Intimate Enemies." Starring Ryoo Seung-Bum, Go Joon-hee, Yang Ik-june, Kim Eung-su and Kim Ju-hyeok, the story will follow a group of friends who discover a bag of cash and, you guessed it, get mixed up with some bad dudes. It’s a familiar premise but hopefully one that Song-Soo will bring some freshness to. Look for it in 2015.
