DOC NYC Exclusive: SPiN Co-Founders Sign on For 'Top Spin'; Check Out Poster

New York City’s SPiN co-founders Jonathan Bricklin and Franck Raharinosy are officially “Top Spin” executive producers, Indiewire has learned exclusively. The film premieres at DOC NYC on November 15, and Bricklin, who writes books and makes documentary films (“The Entrepreneur” and “Waiting for Mamu”) said this about “Top Spin”:

“Just like the prodigious ping-pong players in this documentary, filmmakers Sara [Newens] and Mina [T. Son] have put their blood, sweat, and tears into a captivating story about what it takes to be the best ping-pong players in America, and perhaps the world, while still in high school. ‘Top Spin’ is a touching film about preternaturally talented teenage athletes and their trials and tribulations on the road to Olympic ping-pong glory.”

The film’s creators, Mina T. Son and Sara Newens are both Stanford graduates in Documentary Film. The directors will hold a discussion with the film’s principal subjects (Ariel Hsing and Lily Zhang) after the DOC NYC screening at 4:30 pm in the SVA Theater. Having been in TT for over 45 years, I am thrilled to hear that a movie is being done. Again who is writing the history? History has a way of being rewritten for those who do know know about it

Very cool, excited to see the film at DOC NYC!
