Idris Elba Releases 5 Songs From His Upcoming Nelson Mandela Tribute Album. Listen to Them Now

Following his role as Mandela in 2013’s “Long Walk to Freedom,” Idris Elba has curated, written for and produced an album titled “mi Mandella,” recorded at Jazzworks Studio in Johannesburg, South Africa, which showcases the best in South African musical talent, and includes collaborations with James Blake and co-producer Mr. Hudson.

Also, Mumford & Sons, who Idris Elba directed and stared in a music video for, contributed to the album, writing the song titled “Home.”

Elba dedicates the album to the late Nelson Mandela, who died on the December 5, 2013, as well as his late father Winston.

Elba. Already an established DJ, he has produced and recorded tracks since 2001, with mi Mandella being his latest effort to promote previously undiscovered artists.

The 11-track album will be available for purchase on November 24; and to get you interested in it, Elba has released 5 songs from the album, streaming via his SoundCloud page, including the singles “Aero Mathata,” “You Give Me Love” featuring Maverick Sabre, “So Many People” featuring Shaun Escoffery, “Thank You For Freedom” and “Tree” featuring Audra Mae and Cody ChesnuTT.
