Palm Springs International Film Festival To Honor Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore has had quite the year. With wonderful lead performances in “Maps to the Stars” and “Still Alice,” the actress will be a force to reckon with this awards season. In honor of these films and her vast filmography, Moore has been chosen as the recipient of the Desert Palm Achievement Award, which will be presented to her at next year’s 26th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala.

“Throughout her career, Julianne Moore has delivered a wide range of extraordinary performances, from such diverse Oscar-nominated films as ‘Boogie Nights’ and ‘Far from Heaven’ to this year’s Cannes win for Best Actress in the riveting ‘Maps to the Stars,'” Festival Chairman Harold Matzner said.

Other actresses who’ve the award in the past include Sandra Bullock, Natalie Portman, Halle Berry, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Naomi Watts and Michelle Williams.

The Palm Springs International Film Festival runs from January 2-12, 2015 with the four-time Oscar-nominated actress being honored on the 3rd.
