“Human Capital” premiered in Italy nearly a year ago, but the foreign language film is just starting to regain steam for the U.S. awards season. The new trailer depicts two affluent Italian families whose lives are altered after a car accident the night before Christmas Eve. The result is a downward spiral of desire, greed and violence that calls the characters to question the value of human life in an age of rampant capitalism.
The film is directed by Paolo Virzi and stars Valeria Golino, Fabrizio Gifuni, Fabrizio Bentivoglio and Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi. Bruni-Tedeschi took home an award for her performance in the film at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year.
