Watch: Meryl Streep, Nora Ephron, Emma Thompson and Elaine May Salute The Late, Great Mike Nichols

We woke up to very, very sad news today: Mike Nichols — truly one of the greatest filmmakers ever — has passed away. This is the man that gave us everything from “The Graduate” to “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” to “Silkwood” to “Working Girl” to “Postcards From The Edge” to “The Birdcage” to “Wit” to “Angels in America.” Seriously, just think of your collective love for those films. Think about the classic performances they gave us from Meryl Streep and Elizabeth Taylor and Cher and Emma Thompson and Shirley MacLaine and Melanie Griffith, or the scripts from the likes of Nora Ephron and Elaine May he brought to life . Nichols made an extraordinary contribution to cinematic roles for women both and offscreen and we’ll let four extraordinary women tell us more about Mike and why he is such a true legend. R.I.P.:
