There are only 3 days left until this campaign ends, but I’m only just learning about it, which is why I’m late in sharing it with you.
But it’s an Indiegogo campaign, so, unlike Kickstarter, which is an all-or-nothing venture, the filmmaker will get to keep whatever she raises via Indiegogo (minus the platform’s fee of course). So even though there are only 3 days left until the campaign ends, and still much money to be raised to reach its goal, you can still contribute to it, because, again, whatever is contributed to the campaign, will go to the filmmaker. Therefore, every penny will matter here. It may not meet the filmmaker’s immediate goal, but it could assist in jump-starting pre-production, as she looks elsewhere for funding (or maybe launches another crowdfunding campaign).
I like what I see, hear and read here, and hopefully you will as well. So, in the interest of time, I’ll just let the filmmaker speak for herself. If you watch the video pitch and fundraising trailer below, and are encouraged to make a contribution, do so here (or click within the Indiegogo widget below).
The film is titled “The Repass.” The filmmaker’s name is Rae Shaw. And the Indiegogo campaign goal is $35,000.
Some of the project’s history:
– Quarterfinalist, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowship
– Finalist, Juntobox Films
– Quarterfinalist, Austin Heart of Film Screenplay Competition
What is the film about? “‘The Repass’ is a darkly thrilling tale of a young girl who journeys into the mysterious world of Haitian vodou to learn the fate of her baby brother lost in the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Entranced, she discovers secrets powerful enough to heal her family or shatter it for ever. A unique narrative which draws from elements of ‘The Sixth Sense,’ ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ and ‘Eve’s Bayou,’ ‘The Repass’ is a moving and lyrical story about how a young girl deals with tragedy, and finds a way to pass into her next phase of living.”
