Lionsgate to Re-Release All-New Extended Versions Of The ‘Twilight: Saga’ On DVD/Blu-Ray In January

Considering just how far Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have come from their “Twilight” years, and how much their credibility has been restored outside that franchise, I’m sure they’d love the series to remain in the rearview mirror, at least to some extent. But a dollar is a dollar is a dollar, and Lionsgate/Summit don’t want to ever forget their cash cow.

The studio will release “The Twilight Saga: Extended Editions Triple Feature” on Blu-ray (plus Digital HD) and DVD (plus Digital) on January 13th. This “definitive collection” of the series has been re-edited to include deleted scenes in all-new extended versions of all three films. Woo! Each film will now run slightly longer: “Twilight” (126 minutes), “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” (138 minutes), and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” (129 minutes). But marketing ploy alert, fans will already know this is about five or six minutes longer only with deleted scenes that are already likely on their DVDs. Still, this will be packaged in a triple feature and like, you won’t even have to click to watch those deleted scenes, because they’ll be in there already. Who’s coming for the pajama party!?

Oh, but worse, “Breaking Dawn—Part 1” and “Breaking Dawn—Part 2” aren’t available in this set and presumably you’ll be able to buy them as one big extended set later in the year. And then Lionsgate will probably re-package this stuff over and over again. Buyer beware…
