88 seconds long, 13 million YouTube page views and counting, the first teaser trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was an event. And frankly, Disney doesn’t really have much to worry about when it comes to marketing the seventh entry in the franchise. They can pretty much do nothing and fans will still line up opening day. And so it goes for this Fortune profile on studio CEO Bob Iger, which barely mentions the movie at all (it focuses more on the company’s embrace of technology and future non-movie plans), but does feature the exec standing in front of the Millennium Falcon. Thus, here we are.
So feast your eyes on this new look at the ship (in the background), and it’s likely you’ll see more of it beyond ‘The Force Awakens.’ Rumors kicking around the internet over the last couple days from fansite Making Star Wars suggest an upcoming spinoff will indeed focus on the young Han Solo, with “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul attached to a role, though not necessarily the lead. Filming will apparently overlap with “Star Wars: Episode VIII” which makes sense, given that the spinoff is scheduled to arrive in cinemas between ‘Force Awakens’ and ‘VIII.’ Gareth Edwards (“Godzilla“) already has the gig to direct the movie.
So something to contemplate as you finish the eggnog and make your New Year’s Eve plans. Thoughts? You know where to leave ’em.
