Paramount Announces New Year's Day 'Selma' Theatrical Openings in Chicago and Baltimore

No doubt, being very happy with the excellent B.O. take for “Selma” over the Christmas holiday weekend, grossing over $900,000 on just 19 screens in N.Y. and L.A., Paramount announced
this afternoon that they are going to extend the limited release of the film in two more cities this
week.

The film will
open in Chicago and Baltimore on January 1st (this Thursday). It will play exclusively on a few screens in both cities, before expanding to more
screens in those cities, when the film opens nationwide, on Friday
January 9th.

But something
worth noting are the foreign release dates for “Selma,” with the film opening
in Brazil on January 25, February 5 in Argentina and Greece, February 6 in the U.K. and
Ireland, and February 19 in Germany, with more international release dates soon to
follow.

Of
course we’ll be keeping track on how the film performs overseas as well.
