The Dissolve's Worst Movies of 2015: 'Transformers,' 'Sin City,' and 'The 'Groundhog Day' of Premature Ejaculation'

Critics will sometimes object to the practice of naming a worst movie of the year on the entirely accurate grounds that the worst-made film of any given calendar year is likely some microbudget vanity project that played on a bedsheet in someone’s basement. But there’s a polemic value to naming worsts, especially when you have a chance to balance between blockbuster disasters and unknown horrorshows. The Dissolve’s list of 15 cinematic nightmares is evenly split (well, 8 to 7) between movies you’ve heard of and movies you never need to hear of again. The former category includes  the “rancid and repellent” “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” (#1 with a black-and-white bullet),  the “appallingly misjudged” “Men, Women & Children” and “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” which they call simply “dumb shit”; the latter, such traffic accidents as “Jersey Shore Massacre,” a dual genre parody that is both “spectacularly incompetent ” and “militantly free of fun,” and “Premature,” “the ‘Groundhog Day’ of premature ejaculation.” You can quarrel with some of the individual choices, but you’re luckiest if you haven’t seen any of the movies to begin with.
