Watch Trailer for Romcom 'With This Ring' (Regina Hall, Jill Scott, Eve Star - Coming January 2015)

Regina Hall, Jill Scott, and Eve Jeffers Cooper star as 3 single friends who vow to get married within a year after attending their best friend’s wedding, in the Lifetime Original Movie “With This Ring,” which the network has now set a premiere for on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 8pm ET/PT.

Brooklyn Sudano, Deion Sanders, Stephen Bishop, Jason George and Brian White round out the key cast.

The romantic comedy is based on the best seller, “The Vow,” by Denene Millner, Angela Burt-Murray and Mitzi Miller, which tells the story of  Trista (Hall), a career-driven talent agent, Viviane (Scott), a successful gossip columnist, and Amaya (Cooper), a struggling actress, who make a pact to get married within the year to either a new love or a man waiting in the wings, after attending their friend Elise’s (Sudano) wedding to Nate (Bishop) on New Year’s Eve. But the close friends face their own set of challenges – Trista has not gotten over her commitment-phobic ex-boyfriend Damon (White), Viviane is secretly in love with Sean (George), the father of her son, and Amaya is desperate to break up her boyfriend Keith’s (Sanders) unhappy marriage so they can live happily ever after. But will they all make it to the altar?

Written and directed by Nzingha Stewart, “With This Ring” is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

Executive producers are Tracey E. Edmonds via her Edmonds Entertainment Group, Gabrielle Union in her first producing role, and Sheila Ducksworth.

Casting is by Tracy “Twinkie” Byrd.

A first trailer for the film has surfaced and is embedded below (underneath, you’ll find a set of official images from the film).

Ok I understand that there are those who cannot appreciate a guilty pleasure feel good movie. I too like a movie that goes deeper than what some of you call ‘fluff’…BUT I also love these type of ‘fluff’ black romantic comedies as well. In fact I needed the escape sometime. I also LOVE the fact that the characters are women I can relate to and they are not the stereo type ‘ghetto’ loud grammar challenged females and thugged out saggy pants wearing street hood males..Or the over-the-top bufoonish charaters in a Tyler Perry movie, which I bet some of you who probably enjoy yet you diss THIS movie! So I hope that these kind of black romantic comedies along with ‘non-fluff’ movies continue to be made for those of us who need a good laugh of a feel good romantic comedy staring black characters!

Regina Hall – i get that she’s going where the work is – but the best man and think like a man and that other one she did with Kevin Hart – she’s basically the black Heigl and that’s not a good look. This is some hacked to death crap about Black women who have got the ‘career’ and now need the husband to be happy. Snore – Vivica A Fox nailed it down years ago in Two can play that Game.

This is a rip off version of Bet on Love by Jill Thrussell that was a multi-racial screenplay about four females. They slightly adapted it found a book to base it on and stuck it up there with a Black face on it that silly music director who hasn’t done nothing for herself for years. They even used her script to improve the book they pretended to base it on coz the book was tedious. She apparently wrote it for a particular audience for whom this movie was very suitable.

It looks fresh so far….I hope they make it funny because sometimes you have to laugh at yourself….he’ll…I’m looking for pointers…and yes a lot of black women desire t married one do…being 50 and single and less not forget Happy…I would like to do the rest of life with a husband….time waits for no msn and isn’t nobody got time to be old and alone…

more foot-shuffling garbage for Lifetime to put on

More important than freedom of speech is personal humility. We lose our ability to grow when we don’t recognize our own mistakes. I certainly must recognize mine. Happy Holidays to us all. May 2015 be a year of amazing growth and productivity.

I had written this off as just another BlackPerson(s)Lookin’FuhLuv film. After viewing the trailer, is still is basically that but . . . I enjoy ReginaK and am in the mood for something that is ‘fluffy’ and making $$$ for some Black folk. My feeling always has been: If you don’t LIKE it, then don’t WATCH it. Better yet, MAKE YO OWN or support someone who IS. Guess I’m just an Old Romantic at heart (pun intended). MERRY CHRISTMAS y’all.

This doesn’t look too bad. But it is lifetime… and Baggage Claim is a TERRIBLE movie

Mike V I would be remiss if I didn’t admit to noticing the humility of your response. Truly a stand up move! Hey CareyCarey I’m outchea trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents.

Well it looks better than Baggage Claim & fairly decent for a Lifetime movie.

@ The apple of my eye… the most wittiest and humorous and sensible woman that I know (on this board), Savannah Morgan, I bid you a Merry Chirstmas, as well. Thanks for the holler. @ Mike V, the end of the year is the season we see award shows mammy. From films to sports to the best news story, this is the time of year when special people are acknowledged for a job well done. Well son, guess what, when you least expect it, you’re elected, you’re the star today. Listen, I’ve been scratching on this board for quite some time… and I’ve never-ever-no-never seen a reader "retreat", admit fault and concede as you so did. Not on this board! Therefore sir, for your unique act of gallantry in a very tough neighborhood, I award you the first annual CareyCarey’s "No He Didn’t Just Do That… Yes The Hell He Sure Did" award. Long title fit for a big man.

I want some better roles for Regina she is such a good actress and I want to see her range.

I LOVE IT! NZINGHA you better log on and serve em’ up! look sis I have been rooting for you since "Colored Girls" congrats to you and continued success! Merry Christmas CareyCarey or better yet "Everybody" before MikeV meets me in the parking lot at 3pm!

Mike V

Careycarey, agreed, sir. I’ll concede (albeit hesitantly). Bad form on my part.

Mike V, please don’t. If she desired to repond to the other concerns she would have done so. Calling her out after she has already addressed the board is not a good look.

Mike V

Nzingha, why address only Carmen and leave out the rest of the points on this page? All points are as valid as Carmen’s. I respect your response to fan doubt, but at the same time am curious regarding your seemingly very specific exclusion.

Director here – Carmen, give us a chance. Our unified intent is to spread the exact opposite message of "you can’t be happy without a man or marriage." You’d just have to watch it and go through the journey with us to see. This was definitely on some for us by us – and the "for us" is a new paradigm about not waiting on any of that to be happy. I really hope you check it out.

It took 3 people to write the book this movie is based on?

christopher gomes

It seems like all these actors are interchangeable. They all star on the same shows… it’s kind of confusing… it looks good, but the same stuff over again.

pointless fluff, harmless and forgettable 24 hours after you watch it. a check for all except us who get tricked into watching it

Same recycled BS. Can we please have a film starring black people that is not scrambling for a man or that has some element of thoughtfulness or inventiveness to it. Can’t be happy unless you have a man or getting married? Please. This is played out. Won’t be seeing this (even though I like some of the actors).
