2015 Golden Globe Predictions: Best Original Song

2015 Golden Globe Predictions: Best Original Song

Indiewire’s Awards Editor Peter Knegt and TV Critic Ben Travers will
provide regular updates on the Golden Globe races leading up to the
ceremony on January 11, 2015.

The history of the Best Original Song category at the Golden Globes is ripe is full of winners who didn’t go on to win — or in some cases even be nominated for — Oscar. See Madonna’s win in 2011 for her “W.E.” song “Masterpiece,” or  “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” winning the year before for “Burlesque.” So whatever wins, don’t necessarily expect the same song to even be called a few days later when the Oscar nominations come out.

The Nominees:
“Big Eyes” (Lana Del Rey) – Big Eyes
“Glory” (John Legend and Common) – Selma
“Mercy Is” (Patti Smith and Lenny Kaye) – Noah
“Opportunity” (Greg Kurstin, Sia Furler, Will Gluck) – Annie
“Yellow Flicker Beat” (Lorde) – The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1

Will Win: “Glory” (John Legend and Common) – Selma
Could Win: “Big Eyes” (Lana Del Rey) – Big Eyes
Should Win: “Yellow Flicker Beat” (Lorde) – The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1
Shoulda Been Here: “Everything is Awesome” (Lonely Island & Tegan & Sara) – The LEGO Movie
