Sean Mullin’s “Amira & Sam” breathes fresh life into the romantic-comedy genre by focusing on the diverse love story between an American solider home from war and his former Iraqi translator’s niece, an immigrant suspicious of soldiers. Starring Martin Starr (“Silicon Valley”) and newcomer Dina Shihabi, “Amira & Sam” tracks the pair’s relationship as immigration troubles and lucrative new business opportunities threaten to keep them apart.
