"Cabaret" actor Joel Grey officially came out today, which is not much of a surprise — though the fact that he waited until he was 82 to do so is definitely worth noting. It also gives him a pretty insane distinction: He’s the only openly LGBT actor to have won an Oscar. That’s right. Jodie Foster and Kevin Spacey don’t quite count, and Ian McKellen (among others) has somehow never won. Meaning of the 384 acting Oscars given out, a whopping ONE has gone to an openly LGBT actor. Isn’t that mind blowing?
