Here’s some interesting news care of Deadline: Matt Bomer will star as iconic closeted Hollywood actor Montgomery Clift in a new HBO biopic.
The project had originally been intended as an independent film, with Bomer attached to that as well and Larry Moss set to direct a script by Christopher Lovick. But no HBO has stepped up, and they are bringing with them some pretty great folks: “Keep The Lights On” and “Love is Strange” writing duo Ira Sachs and Mauricio Zacharias will rewrite Lovick’s script. In them we trust, especially with as juicy a story as Clift’s (spend some time on his Wikipedia page).
Notably, this comes on the heels of Bomer’s work in another LGBT-related HBO movie, “The Normal Heart” — which also was once intended as an indie film.
