Project of the Day: 'Love & Other Mental Illnesses'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

Love & Other Mental Illnesses

Tweetable Logline: A young man with social anxiety alongside another group therapy member runs away to complete a list of rom com cliches

Elevator Pitch: This is a meet-cute film about two young people with unique quirks.

The two heartwarming characters, Jack & Sally, are portrayed by two extremely talented actors we’re all very excited to work with, especially writer/director Jim Del Brocco. The film takes place in his hometown Ardmore, PA. The small town Philadelphia vibe gives “Love & Other Mental Illnesses” the same feel “Silver Linings Playbook” has; it’s a quirky film that has a draw to it that you can’t describe until you see it, and once you do it makes you feel good inside.

About the Film: Many suffer from mental health issues or know people close to them that do. Mental illness is no light subject, there’s no quick fix. A pill cannot always be a one stop solution. Many times people even feel as therapy is letting them down. We want to show people that individuals have the chance to make an impact on each other. That two people meeting can change the course of their lives for the better. For me, when two people meet, life finds a way of keeping them together.

Current Status: We started production on Jan. 2, 2015 and are raising money for post-production on Kickstarter.
