Julianne Moore has earned her frontrunner status in the Best Actress race with her performance as an early-onset Alzheimer’s patient in Still Alice, but she was honored by the Cannes Film Festival with a Best Actress trophy for her work in another film, Maps to the Stars.
A new trailer for the showbiz satire shows Moore playing fading actress Havana Segrand, the daughter of an iconic Hollywood ingenue (Sarah Gadon), who died young and left a pretty corpse. Havana is haunted by visions of her vicious mother, who died in a fire, while fighting tooth and nail for the starring role in the remake of the movie that made her mother a star.
Mia Wasikowska co-stars as Havana’s new assistant, a pyromaniac burn victim who’s not as innocent as she appears. Her horndog love interest, played by Robert Pattinson, might have a heart of gold — but also a wandering eye for Havana.
More Moore is always a good thing, and so we can’t wait for Maps to the Stars‘ release on February 27.
