With a dopey title like “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” it’s tempting to write off Matthew Vaughn’s new film as another wannabe franchise-starter. But its release draws closer next month, the more it appears as fun as early reviews —including our own A- review— have suggested. So on the heels of the advanced screenings last week, the studio has released a slew of new clips and TV spots to help stoke excitement for the very British spy comedy here stateside.
First up is a pair of clips from the first act of the film, when Taron Egerton’s streetwise Eggsy gets recruited by Colin Firth’s posh secret agent Harry Hart. Both clips are from sequences that have been glimpsed in previous trailers: namely, the pub fight and Eggsy being impressed by Hart’s pair of oxfords.
Next up is a short featurette laying out the premise of the film —streetwise kid gets the “Pretty Woman” treatment and joins an elite secret spy organization— as well as Eggsy’s arc in the film. After that are some secret agent etiquette lessons and a pair of TV spots.
“Kingsman: The Secret Service” opens on February 13th.
