Cannes Best Actress winner and Golden Globe nominee Julianne Moore leads this sick but often brilliant Hollywood horror story of deluded pill-swilling actresses, schizophrenic burn victims, incest families and drug-addicted child stars. In other words, home sweet home for director David Cronenberg.
Though ineligible for the Oscars, the film had a small qualifying run in Los Angeles to secure tour-de-force Moore’s deserved Golden Globe nomination (she’s also up for “Still Alice”).
Focus World has its eyes firmly on the real prize: a well-supported day-and-date multiplatform February 27 2015 release for “Maps to the Stars” on about 50 screens, with premium placement from cable companies. No question that this gloriously entertaining, shocking evisceration of Hollywood starring Moore, Robert Pattinson, John Cusack and Mia Wasikowska, is a strong VOD play.
