Shot entirely in black and white, "Chorus" is a mournful drama that centers on a couple, played by Sebastien Ricard and Fanny Mallette, driven apart by the sudden disappearance of their eight-year-old son. It is, at once, a story of loss and recovery.
The recurring black and white shots of roses, which serve as the backdrop for the title card inserts that appear intermittently throughout the trailer, are perhaps the most striking images of all. The simplicity of the flora provides the necessary breathing room that makes the melancholy of the narrative bearable.
