Paramount has quite a marketing hill to climb with “Terminator: Genisys.” The reception to the first trailer for the film was hardly enthusiastic, and the relentless call backs to previous entries in the series — mostly “The Terminator” and “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” — fell flat hard. Moreover, the retconning of the storyline was both confusing and seemed to only serve putting Arnold Schwarzenegger back in the movie. And so, they’ll see if this Super Bowl spot can help start turning the tide.
Yep, the game day promo is basically a sizzle reel of the trailer — so maybe the message hasn’t changed that much or maybe Paramount is just trying their best to sell whatever it is they’ve got on their hands. Maybe “I’ll be back” will be enough to get audiences into theaters this summer, again, for one (hopefully) last run of Ahnuld as the killing machine turned protector.
