The day of Terrence Malick continues. Okay, so we have the poster, the review, all the music in the film, and now “Knight Of Cups,” along with the director’s next, still untitled film, have found a U.S. distributor to bring to them to cinemas stateside.
THR reports that upstart players Broad Green Pictures have nabbed the U.S. rights to “Knight Of Cups,” and the followup, starring Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Michael Fassbender, Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara, and more. Of course, there are still no plot details for the latter picture, or any idea of when it might premiere, but we have our fingers and toes crossed for Cannes. And these pictures are separate from Malick’s “Voyage Of Time” documentary — coming in two flavors — which Broad Green is also financing, and has first right of refusal to distribute. Phew.
Suddenly, you can turn around without hitting a Malick project. But when will you seen any of these? No firmed up dates yet, but StudioCanal is eyeballing an April 10th release in the U.K., however that has yet to be confirmed. And we’d wager the U.S. date won’t be too far behind any international bows.
