We couldn’t be more pleased to learn that Strand Releasing has acquired all US rights to Pat Mills’ fabulous first feature “Guidance.” The film had its world premiere at this past Toronto International Film Festival and will is set for the Miami International Film Festival later this month (go see it if you’re there). .
Mills himself plays the film’s title character David Gold, a pathologically immature former child actor who has never been able to get over high school who decides to fake his resume and apply as a high school guidance counselor and thrives as he gives terrible advice to students. The comical situations hit a crescendo when he decides to go on a road trip with Jabrielle, an outcast who is just as equally screwed up as him.
“We thought Pat’s film was one of the freshest feature debuts we’ve seen in awhile,” said Strand’s Jon Gerrans said. “We’re thrilled to be bringing this new comedic voice to audiences in the US.”
