That’s Not Us

Tweetable Logline: An intimate portrait of three couples on a beach weekend that tests the strength of their relationships.

Elevator Pitch: “That’s Not Us” is a romantic comedy about making love last even when it’s not always sexy. This improv film follows 3 couples on a beach weekend in Fire Island, but a day in the waves, a wine-soaked dinner, and midnight skinny dipping aren’t enough to mask the vulnerabilities in their relationships.

Production Team:
Will Sullivan (Director, Story) – A graduate of New York University’s Tisch School for the Arts, William is one of the only students in the school’s history to graduate with a double BFA in Film Production and Drama. Most recent features include Percival’s Big Night, and Jane Wants a Boyfriend from writer Jarret Kerr. Percival had its U.S premiere at the Cinequest Film Festival, UK premiere at the Raindance Film Festival, screened at the Marche Du Film at the Cannes Film Festival, and completed a theatrical run at the Brooklyn Heights Cinema in NYC. Jane, starring Eliza Dushku and Louisa Krause, was completed May 2014, and is currently being submitted to festivals.

Derek Dodge (DP, Story) – Derek Dodge is a producer and cinematographer. He creates original multi-platform content for celebrities like Patrick Dempsey and Katie Couric and major TV networks like CNN and the Discovery Channel. His work has appeared on the Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, CNN, MTV, and PBS. He studied Cinematography at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

Sarah Wharton (Producer, Actor) – Sarah Wharton is a producer and actor. She has collaborated on film, theatre and multi-disciplinary projects in New York and internationally, producing work that has showcased in Los Angeles, London, Oslo and Southern Africa. She is currently a producer with Nine Lives Productions, and an Associate Producer for The Spangler Group, working on a new Broadway Musical about the life of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. She studied at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Mark is the Associate Producer of the Tony Award Winning Best Musical Revival Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Of Mice and Men with James Franco and Chris O’Dowd. He graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts in 2009.

Jayne Baron Sherman (Co-Executive Producer) – Jayne is a producer on Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Kinky Boots, and Love Is Strange.

Cassandra Simon (Co-Executive Producer)

About the Project: From Director Will Sullivan and DP Derek Dodge: “We wanted to make a film where we could have complete creative freedom, and would all be about the experience of telling a story that we really cared about. As we approached our two year anniversary together, we weren’t seeing a lot of gay couples in long term relationships on screen that we could identify with. We wanted to tell a story not about falling in love, but about the marathon of romance – people who are in it for the long run.”

Current Status: Post-production
