Watch: Brilliant 'Boyhood' Honest Trailer Doesn't Hold Back in Mocking the Year's Best-Reviewed Film

The popular Honest Trailers series, which has spoofed the likes of “Breaking Bad” and “The Avengers” in the past, has turned its attention to Oscar frontrunner “Boyhood.”

It’s unlikely that the Honest Trailers audience has much crossover with the Academy, which is good news for proponents of the critical darling: an early excerpt goes “It’s a beautiful film, but honestly … if you took the same script and shot it over a few months, it would suck.”

The “trailer” is filled with biting humor, a refreshing change of pace given the gluttonous volume of “Boyhood”-related thinkpieces that have made the rounds throughout awards season. And isn’t a little playful mockery the greatest form of affection, anyway?
