Watch: Kristen Wiig Wins the Lottery But Loses Her Mind in New Dramedy 'Welcome to Me'

Future Ghostbuster Kristen Wiig plays an eccentric lottery winner in “Welcome to Me,” a new dramedy from director Shira Piven (“Fully Loaded”).

Reviews were ecstatic out of Toronto (all four reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are currently “fresh”) for “Welcome to Me,” in which Wiig stars as “$86 Million Alice,” a woman who decides to use her lottery winnings to buy herself a talk show like Oprah’s. It becomes immediately clear to everyone but herself that Alice doesn’t have the firmest grasp on reality, nor much in the way of televisual charisma — hence her bizarre insistence that she debut on a swan boat, her grasping, welcoming arms stretched toward the sky.

“Welcome to Me” opens May 1. Joan Cusack, Linda Cardellini, and Loretta Devine co-star.
