What do Oscar nominees Benedict Cumberatch, Felicity Jones, Eddie Redmayne, Rosamund Pike and Keira Knightley all have in common? Their British heritage, of course, but now Vanity Fair and photographer Jason Bell are formally celebrating the British Hollywood invasion with a short film extravaganza starring England’s biggest stars, from Cumberbatch and Jones to Michael Cane, James McAvoy, Damian Lewis, Dame Judi Dench and dozens more.
The film is comprised of three parts: “Preparing for War,” “Coming to America” and “Victory is Assured” – and was designed as a video component to accompany the magazine’s Hollywood Portfolio photo series. Fashioned like World War II-era newsreels, the three parts showcase the prominence of Hollywood actors who pledge allegiance to the Queen. In the words of Bell, “We’re not really taking over Hollywood, we’re just doing well there.”
Ever want to see Knightley and Dench recreate the famous orgasm scene from “When Harry Met Sally”? What about Felicity Jones and Tom Hiddleston as Bonnie & Clyde? Or how about “Downton Abbey” star Michele Dockery as a sultry Lauren Bacall? Well now’s your one and only chance.
