Disney TV Animation Celebrates Disneyland With An Art Show

Disney Television Animation hosted an art gallery in celebration of Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary at its studio headquarters in Glendale, California on Tuesday, March 24th. And they made a video about it:

"The Disneyland 60th Anniversary Show" art gallery featured individual pieces spotlighting the theme park’s 60 years from the studio’s pool of talented artists, executives and staff.  Tom Warburton, Sam Levine, Craig McCracken and Daron Nefcy, are among those who participated.

In 1958, Card Walker gave me a tour of the animation facility. In the hallway outside the multi-plane ani stands were stacks of cels from the completed "Sleeping Beauty" shoot. Card said that Roy Disney was going to take every master cel (cel with a complete character) to Disneyland and sell them for a buck apiece. I sure wish I had bought a couple.

I would like to point out that the painting of California Adventure behind the executives was done by my colleague, Willie Sims, a Production Supervisor on "Sofia the First".
