More TV Pilot Casting Notices: Alano Miller, D.B. Woodside, Echo Kellum Land Roles

More pilot TV casting of black actors that you should know about; 3 more to add to my growing list (which you should check out here).

First, Alano Miller has booked a lead role in WGN America’s straight-to-series drama “Underground,” joining the previously cast Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Aldis Hodge in a scripted series based on stories of the Underground Railroad. It will follow the slaves who set foot on the fabled Underground Railroad, the secret network of men and women who risked their lives aiding them, and the mercenaries tasked with hunting them down at any cost. Miller will play a slave who is hated and feared by other slaves, thanks, in part, to his cunning.

Second, D.B. Woodside has been cast in a series regular role on Fox’s DC comic book pilot, “Lucifer,” which centers on Lucifer (to be played by Tom Ellis) who in Los Angeles, where he assists the LAPD in hunting down bad guys. Woodside will play Amenadiel, an angel sent to L.A. to persuade Lucifer to return to hell.

And third, Echo Kellum has landed a co-starring role in CW’s J.J. Abrams “Dead People” drama pilot, which centers on Floyd (played by Andrew J. West), a down-on-his-luck, semi-alcoholic, though charming cab driver, who, after a near-death experience, learns that he has the ability to interact with ghosts, including his late ex-wife (played by Alexandra Chando), who he has never gotten over. Kellum has signed up to play Floyd’s best friend (what else?) Doug, who happens to be a successful attorney living with his wife and two children, who worries about Floyd and wants to help him in any way he can.
