“Grey Gardens,” the quippy cult classic doc about beaumonde dropouts Big and Little Edie Beale, is coming back to theaters.
In partnership with The Academy and The Criterion Collection, distributor Janus Films is putting together a new 2K restoration slated for select cities beginning March 6. NY’s Film Forum hosts the premiere screening.
Cousins of Jackie Onassis, the fabulously “S-T-A-U-N-C-H” mother and daughter shut-ins lived a reclusive life in the East Hamptons, where Albert and David Maysles shot a slice of their life in 1976. Watch a new trailer for the upcoming print here.

UPDATE: The Criterion Collection has announced the sad news that Albert Maysles has died: “Our dear friend Albert Maysles passed away last night at the age of 88. We saw things through his lens that we will never forget. He was a filmmaker up until the end. We loved him and will miss him terribly.” (More here.)
