The 15 Best LGBT Characters On Television: Connor Walsh On 'How To Get Away With Murder'

Network television almost looked like cable this season when it came to gay sex scenes — on some of the highest rated shows around, no less. The poster boy for that trend had to be Connor Walsh on ABC’s insanely popular soap “How To Get Away With Murder.” Played by Jack Falahee, Connor seemingly got more action than any other character — gay or straight — in primetime. Which is certainly notable in how it goes against the common, desexualized fate of most network LBGT characters, but its not why the character himself made this list.

Ambitious, ruthless and intensely manipulative, calling Connor one of the “best” LGBT characters on television is certainly questionable if you take the word “best” as a qualifier of conventional morality. He’s definitely not an ideal human being, but he’s certainly an authentic fascinating one.  Especially for a series that is not trying to be much more than an addictively entertaining soap opera. Without giving away the dozens of twists and turns the series offers the character over its first season (though by now you should have probably caught yourself up), Connor is ultimately as deeply flawed as most of the other characters on “How To Get Away With Murder.” But he’s also incredibly intelligent and ambitious, and his chaotic, complicated season long romance with IT nerd Oliver is one of the most layered (and sexiest) LGBT relationships on network TV — for better or worse.
