A local election triggers the psychological implosion of a small town in the TV adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s "The Casual Vacancy."
After the death of a town-council member, a race to fill the vacated seat gets underway. But complicating things is the fact that the town is haunted by an online presence that assumes the ghost of the deceased man’s name — and begins exposing the town’s secrets. Accusations begin flying about who the anonymous blogger is, driving the town toward its collapse.
Written by Sarah Phelps, the miniseries will air on HBO on April 29 and 30.
