“Slow West” was one of the highest profile films to premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival based on one factor alone: it stars Michael Fassbender. The western — from first-time feature director John Maclean, who previously worked on the shorts “Man on a Motorcyle” and “Pitch Black Heist” with the actor — won the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Dramatic section of the event and garnered mostly favorable reviews. Today, distributor A24 has released the first trailer for the award-winner.
“Slow West” centers on a mysterious drifter (Fassbender) who teams up with a teenager (Kodi Smit-McPhee) to help the young man cross the American frontier in search of the woman he loves.
The film next plays at the Tribeca Film Festival later this month before opening theatrically May 15. Before it opens in select theaters, you can watch it on DirecTV starting April 16.
