Watch: Trailer For Helen Hunt Directed Surf Comedy 'Ride' With Brenton Thwaites And Luke Wilson

Yeah, I didn’t know Helen Hunt had written and directed a new movie either, and a surf comedy no less, but indeed she has. It’s a sophomore feature effort, though she has helmed a handful of television episodes too, and the first trailer has arrived for “Ride” promising a movie so breezy it might just float away.

Hunt stars in the movie along with Brenton Thwaites, Luke Wilson, and that cop from “Dexter,” in a story about a stuck up New York woman who has to grapple with her son’s shocking decision to drop out of college and surf. She doesn’t understand the allure until she hits the water herself, meets a hunky guy, and learns to let her son fly from the nest. Sure, the premise is a bit wonky, but it seems to have a decent amount of heart at the core.

“Ride” arrives on May 1st. Watch below. [Vlicious!]
