Fathom Events, in partnership with Broadway Near You, presents “Driving Miss Daisy” in select U.S. cinemas on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. local time.

Shot during the play’s Australian tour, after sold out seasons on Broadway and London’s West End, the “Driving Miss Daisy event offers fans the chance to see the stage production in advance of this year’s Tony Award season. The Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Alfred Uhry stars two iconic Broadway and Hollywood veterans, Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones.

Tickets for “Driving Miss Daisy” can be purchased online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com, or at participating theater box offices.

Of this stagecast, playwright Alfred Uhry said, “Every playwright dreams of having a perfect rendition of his play last forever. I am blessed to have it happen for me with this production of Driving Miss Daisy.”

“We are thrilled to work with Fathom Events to bring Broadway Near You’s first production to life on the big screen,” said CEO of Broadway Near You, LLC Lee deBoer. “The Driving Miss Daisy stagecast features two endearing and seasoned professionals in an emotionally charged rendition that not only captures the essence of live theatre, but also allows the viewer to see the up close and personal emotions that are usually missed in live performances.”

“Driving Miss Daisy” tells the story of the decades-long relationship between an elderly Southern Jewish woman, Daisy Werthan (played in the film by Jessica Tandy), and her compassionate African American chauffeur, Hoke Colburn (played in the film by Morgan Freeman).
