Wake up, take a shower, get dressed, go to work, fly some drones that kill some targets overseas from the comfort of a military base thousands of miles away, go home —it’s the new reality of warfare. In Andrew Niccol‘s “Good Kill,” the subject is explored with Ethan Hawke in the lead role as a man who must grapple with the cutting edge of how the “War on Terror” is presently waged.
Co-starring January Jones, Zoe Kravitz and Bruce Greenwood, the film tells the story of an air combat veteran who enacts the same kind of missions he used to from the sky but now in front of a console on the ground. As you’ll see in this clip, it makes his life somewhat surreal, with his day of hunting down the Taliban capped off with a BBQ at home.
“Good Kill” screened at the Tribeca Film Festival this week and opens on May 15th. Watch below.
