TV One announced today its sponsorship of the American Black Film Festival’s annual screenplay competition, which offers budding writers the opportunity to showcase their talents, and potentially see their project produced.
“With TV One’s commitment to premiering original films monthly, this partnership with ABFF could not have come at a better time,” remarked D’Angela Proctor, Senior Vice President of Original Programming and Production for TV One. “We are excited to provide an opportunity for which aspiring writers can illustrate their creativity and ingenuity as well as give them a platform to bring that vision to fruition.”
“Our mission is to continue to support aspiring individuals interested in the film and television industries,” commented Jeff Friday, Founder and CEO of The Film Life Management. “Our partnership with TV One provides the perfect platform for emerging storytellers to showcase their talent. We look forward to the kickoff of this unique competition at the festival this year.”
The top 3 finalists, as determined by TV One, will receive an all-expense paid trip to attend the 19th Annual American Black Film Festival in New York City, NY, which runs from June 11-14, 2015. Additionally, each will have a scene from their screenplay performed live by professional actors in front of the festival attendees. Of the 3 finalists, 1 grand prize winner will be selected to win a cash prize of $5,000, and will have their screenplay produced to premiere at the 20th Annual American Black Film Festival and premiere on TV One in 2016.
