Those who love epics, check it out: Academy Award-winner Ben Kingsley and Avan Jogia star in “Tut,” a three-night miniseries event on Spike TV. “Tut” follows the real-life story of the stylish and powerful Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun as he lords over his decadent kingdom. The show tracks King Tut’s challenging rise to power and the continual wars he must wage in order to stay in control, as his scheming advisors, friends and lovers all pursue their own agendas.
The series features lavish costumes, lots of eyeliner (on the men) and epic battle sequences. “Tut” gives a glimpse into a fascinating period of history filled with political competition, backstabbing, and murder. In short, the series takes the whole thing a lot more seriously than Steve Martin did in his novelty song “King Tut.”
“Tut” also stars Nonso Anozie, Sibylla Deen, Kylie Bunbury, Alexander Siddig, Peter Gadiot and Iddo Goldberg. It will air from July 19 through 21 on Spike.
