Oscar-nominated actress, and star of the hottest show on TV this season (“Empire”) Taraji P. Henson will shed her tough “Cookie Lyon” persona to write her memoir in a deal she signed with publisher Simon & Schuster imprint 37 Ink.
The publisher announced today that the book is currently untitled with a planned mid-2016 release.
Henson, 44, will write about her childhood in “a rough-and-tumble Washington, DC neighborhood during the crack epidemic” as well as her experiences as a single parent (raising her son Marcel Johnson) in LA, and, of course, her trials and triumphs navigating the entertainment industry as an actress who happens to be black..
Henson will host this weekend’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” – her very first time! She’s also set to return to CBS’ “Person of Interest” reprising her role, although in flashbacks, since the character was killed off the show last year.
As the title of this post says, when you’re hot, you’re hot! Or maybe I should say, strike while the iron is hot.
