Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer of ‘Broad City’ to Write and Produce Movie with Paul Feig

Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer of 'Broad City' to Write and Produce Movie with Paul Feig

We couldn’t possibly imagine better news to start your weekend than this: The stars and creators of Comedy Central’s "Broad City," Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, are reportedly developing and producing a film with Paul Feig.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the inimitable duo have sold a feature-length "untitled comedy project" to 20th Century Fox. The bad news is — and brace yourself, it’s pretty disappointing — that neither Glazer nor Jacobson will star in the project. Nor is Feig slated to direct the project. We’re hopeful, though, that he will use his clout to encourage the studio to hire a woman director, since he’s been a vocal proponent of giving female filmmakers more opportunities.

Dan, I’m in your age bracket and while I like the Marx Bros., Abbott and Costello, and Belushi, I also dig very much the slacker humor of Broad City.

Serena, I love funny women. I don’t like men or women who do bawdy humor. Just not my thing. And by the way, 50 is not old.

Agh!!! I am bursting with joy!!!

Dan: I love how you used your age as a reason why you’re not happy with the news. Even if you’re old and not a fan of BROAD CITY, I hope you’re hip enough to the times to appreciate funny women getting their time to shine and be just as bawdy and ballsy as the boys. Unless you ache for the times when I LOVE LUCY couldn’t even use the word "pregnant."

I’ m in my 50s so this isn’t great news to me. I still like the Marx Brothers, Abbott and Costello and John Belushi. I don’t find Broad City funny at all.

Oh, and Carol Burnett, Gilda Radner and Lucille Ball.
