Cannes: Watch A Three Way Makeout In The First Clip From Gaspar Noe’s 3D ‘Love’ Plus New NSFW Image

Posters for French filmmaker Gaspar Noe’sLove” are not subtle, but it should be noted that the much-talked about NSFW one-sheet isn’t actually a scene from the film. It was something cooked up by the film’s producer, Vincent Maraval, last year. “I just did it with my assistant,” Maraval told THR, while declining to name whose, uh, member is in the shot. “I signed a confidentiality clause.”

A 3D sex movie (no, really) seemingly inspired by soft-pornography, or perhaps attempting to create a porn movie with a story and characters, every poster from “Love” is either sexual titillating (a trio of tongues from different sexes mashed together) or straight up baby batter and male/female anatomy splattered all over the place. Perhaps this is no surprise coming from the provocative filmmaker that shot one of the most gruesome rapes ever to hit the screen and also one of the most gory, punishing head-smashing scenes (not to mention tons of other just brutal scenes of violence and explicit sex).

But to hear it from Noe, and based on the plot and title, the filmmaker is actually trying for something somewhat romantic, at least comparatively. “Love” is essentially about a ménage a trois, or two girls and a guy who try and navigate a triangular sexual relationship. Though according to the official synopsis, there’s more to it than that:

January the 1st, early morning. The telephone rings. Murphy wakes up next to his young wife and 2-year-old child. He listens to his voicemail: Electra’s mother, sick with worry, wants to know whether he has heard from her daughter. Electra’s been missing for a long time. She’s afraid something really bad has happened to her. Over the course of a long rainy day, Murphy finds himself alone in his apartment, reminiscing about the greatest love affair of his life, his two years with Electra. A burning passion full of promises, games, excesses and mistakes…

Starring Karl Glusman, Aomi Muyock, and Klara Kristin this first clip from the movie features a relatively tame three-way make out, scored to “Maggot Brain” by Funkadelic. “Love” debuts on the Croisette later this week and has been picked up by for U.S. distribution by Alchemy. Watch below.
