We’ve all seen these characters — their smooth skin or perfect hair and makeup during a major disaster. The way their clothes are always not only clean, but flattering with a certain apocalypse-chic aesthetic. We also know how unrealistic it is that they would be able to keep up with fashion and beauty (or even hygiene) trends in such scenarios. So why do action films insist on keeping their female heroines looking as gorgeous as they would have before the apocalypse even while making their male characters look more and more unkempt?

That’s a good question, and one that YouTube comedian Dara Laine is willing to take on. Her “deleted scenes” compilation highlights the ridiculousness of what male writers often believe female characters are capable of pulling off during apocalypse and disaster scenarios.”I actually find it easier wearing heels while fighting an army of vampires, as it allows me to just be really eye-to-eye with with my male opponent,” says one character shortly before tripping in her high stiletto boots. “Walk it off,” she whispers to herself angrily afterwards.
