Timing is everything, and if you want to get some attention on an adventurous, provocative Cannes Critics’ Week Grand Prize winner from last year, you do it on the first day of the Cannes this year. And so, Drafthouse Films has unveiled the first U.S. trailer for “The Tribe.”
The debut feature from director Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy — one of our 41 Most Anticipated Movies Of The Summer — takes viewers into the strange world of a school for the deaf. And without a single word of dialogue, the movie takes viewers into this environment seemingly free from adult supervision in a movie that we said in our A-grade review left us “gaping in astonishment” at “this deeply compelling” picture.
“The Tribe” opens on June 17th.
