Colman Domingo Joins Cast of AMC's 'The Walking Dead' Spin-off Summer Series, 'Fear the Walking Dead'

Colman Domingo will take his acting talents to television, booking what will be a recurring role on AMC’s upcoming “The Walking Dead” spin-off series, “Fear The Walking Dead” (I really wish that was a working title, and not the actual title).

Set for a summer debut, the new series will take place in Los Angeles and will follow a male divorced teacher, a female guidance counselor, and her two children – a son and a daughter – during the zombie apocalypse.

The starring cast includes Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.

Dave Erickson, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert are Executive Producing.

With a two seasons ordered by AMC, “Fear the Walking Dead” premieres this summer, with a second season set for the summer of 2016.

I suppose this companion series is, in part, meant to keep fans of the original, engaged and satiated, until “The Walking Dead” returns in the fall.

No word yet on what character Domingo has signed up to play, but the busy actor is currently filming Nate Parker’s Nat Turner film, “The Birth of a Nation.” We last saw him on the big screen in “Selma” playing Ralph Abernathy.

I first noticed Colman Domingo in RED HOOK SUMMER in a pivotal scene and I looked him up as soon as the movie was over! I’ve followed his career since. Glad he booked this role!

Good for Mr. Domingo! Glad to see that a Black actor has finally been added to the cast. (C’mon, this is L.A.!!!) I’ve enjoyed Mr. Colman’s work in films such as THE BUTLER, NEWLYWEEDS, and SELMA. He’s a talented director and playwright, also. Had the great pleasure of seeing his wonderful play "Wild with Happy" in Baltimore. I wish him much continued success.
