Female Buddy Comedy Gets the Mob Treatment in 'Not It' Web Series

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film, web series, TV pilot, what-have-you in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a project you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

Not It

Logline: “Laverne and Shirley” meets “The Sopranos.” 2 girls, 1 mob boss. 5 days.

Elevator Pitch: It’s a light hearted comedy (starring two woman) that has nothing to do with sex or dating. Two sisters find themselves once again in the predicament of having no money and end up taking on a notorious mob boss in exchange for free rent. “Laverne and Shirley” meets “The Sopranos.”
Production Team:
Director: Chris Crutchfield
Writer: Angelique Gray
Producer: Desiree Abeyta

About the Film: When Angelique pitched the idea of two women finding themselves in the stereotypically male dominant world of the mob, I nearly fell off my barstool laughing. I just knew we had to do this. The idea of a female-driven show that has nothing to do with sex or dating was both appealing and refreshing. We are huge fans of classic buddy comedies with female protagonists (“Laverne and Shirley,” “I Love Lucy”) and we’re excited to bring that relationship into the seedy underworld of the mob. Two audience choice awards and one best comedic ensemble award!

Current Status: We just completed a successful Kickstarter for our second season and have begun filming.
