We now “Scandal” star Kerry Washington wears a politico under pressure well, and sure enough, the 2015 Emmy contender will once again go full feminist for HBO’s “Confirmation” as Anita Hill. Currently shooting in Atlanta, the film is directed by Rick Famuyiwa, the breakout indie behind this year’s hip-hop-addled Sundance comedy “Dope.”
“Confirmation” centers on the widely publicized 1991 Clarence Thomas Supreme Court nomination hearings that brought Hill to prominence, and the country to a standstill about how we think about sexual harassment, victims’ rights and race. The film is penned by Oscar-nominated “Erin Brockovich” scribe Susannah Grant. Wendell Pierce, Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Hudson, Erika Christensen and Cobie Smulders round out the cast.
Meanwhile, writers on Shonda Rhimes’ “Scandal” are busily scribbling away on a fifth season of the hit political drama for ABC.
