Jon Bernthal To Play The Punisher In 'Daredevil' Season 2

As Marvel makes their plans for Phase 2 of their Netflix world of shows, they are considering multiple characters, and one of the names tossed around recently has been The Punisher. While it remains to be seen if the character will indeed get his own series, he is coming back.

Marvel announced that Jon Bernthal ("Fury," "Me And Earl And The Dying Girl") will play The Punisher, a.k.a. Frank Castle, in the second season of "Daredevil." While plot details remain locked, my guess is that he’ll be at odds with the masked hero, as the two dish out very different brands of justice. But at any rate, the grittier tone of "Daredevil" is the right fit for The Punisher, rather than the more four-quadrant Marvel Cinematic Universe. You can bet fans are already wondering how, and if, Bernthal and The Punisher will make that transition.

Been waiting for the punisher to come back ever since that botched sequel. I’ll be giddy as a school girl if he gets his own show.
